Maya Day in Year 5
5 April 2019 (by h.holdsworth)
To conclude their topic on the Mayas, year 5 got the opportunity to listen to an archaeologist and handle authentic Maya artefacts.
On Wednesday 3rd April, Year 5 were lucky enough to have a visit from Maya archaeologist Dr Davies. She taught the children all about the many amazing achievements of the Maya, including: pyramids, stela, chocolate, art work, astronomy, pok-ta-pok and writing. The children also got to handle many different artefacts and discuss the materials, what they could have been used for and who could have owned such an item. They made great historians as they tried to discover the secrets of the Maya past!
